How US shipping works
We offer direct shipping to private customers in the United States through our dedicated Direct From Italy / Way To Go service. Availability depends on your delivery address and the products in your order.
- Choose your bottles. Pick your favourites or explore different absinthe styles. We recommend starting with 3 bottles to spread the fixed handling cost; this is a recommendation, not a minimum order requirement.
- Enter your US delivery address. Select United States and complete the state, ZIP code and other required address fields.
- Review the available shipping service and full total. US product prices exclude Italian VAT; shipping and import charges are added to the order.
- Pay online. The shipping service handles the import process. Follow any delivery or documentation requests related to your shipment.
What you pay at checkout
1. Products, without Italian VAT
Orders shipped to the USA are priced without Italian VAT. If the shop is showing prices for another country, enter your US shipping address to update the calculation. The final order summary is the reference before you pay.
2. Shipping from Italy
The shipping cost is calculated for your destination and the total packed weight of your order, including bottles and protective packaging. Rates are based on weight bands: up to 10 kg, then over 10 kg and up to 20 kg. Moving into the next weight band can increase the shipping cost.
The weight of the packaging counts towards these limits, so the number of bottles alone does not determine the rate. Your shipping cost is shown at checkout before payment.
3. Import charges and handling
The current service pricing for US spirits shipments includes a 10% import-charge component and a fixed €45 administrative handling fee per shipment. The percentage applies to the invoice value used by the shipping service, including shipping and excluding the €45 handling fee. The checkout calculates the amount for your order.
The €45 administrative handling fee is fixed per shipment, whether it contains 1 bottle or 10. It is not charged per bottle. Shipping costs and the percentage-based import charge are calculated separately for your order.
These charges are paid together with your order. They may appear grouped under the shipping service’s tax or duty label in the order summary.

A selection of 3 or more bottles spreads the fixed handling fee across more bottles, making that part of the cost lower per bottle. Choose a few favourites or compare different absinthe styles in one shipment.
How the fixed €45 fee works out per bottle:
- 1 bottle: €45.00 per bottle
- 3 bottles: €15.00 per bottle
- 6 bottles: €7.50 per bottle
- 10 bottles: €4.50 per bottle
These examples cover only the administrative handling fee for a single shipment, not the bottle price, shipping or the percentage-based import charge. Shipping varies with your destination and total packed weight. Adding bottles may move your shipment into the next weight band and increase the shipping cost, while the €45 handling fee remains fixed per shipment. Check the full quote at checkout.
Three bottles is our recommendation, not a compulsory minimum. Availability remains subject to destination and quantity requirements.

Shipping to the USA can take as little as 7 days, but may take up to 20 days depending on customs clearance and the destination state. These are estimated shipping times, not a guaranteed delivery date. Contact us before ordering if you need delivery by a particular date.

Is shipping included in the bottle price?
No. The bottle price covers the product. Shipping and import charges are calculated separately for the order and included in the total you pay at checkout.
Why can shipping cost more when I add bottles?
Shipping rates use the total weight of your packed order, including protective packaging. The weight bands are up to 10 kg, then over 10 kg and up to 20 kg. Adding bottles can move the shipment into the next band and increase the transport cost. The €45 administrative handling fee remains fixed per shipment. Review the updated total at checkout before paying.
Why does my product price change after entering my address?
Prices are calculated for the delivery destination. For a US shipping address, Italian VAT is removed. Always review the updated order summary before paying.
Do I pay import charges again when the parcel arrives?
No additional import charges are due on delivery under this service: they are collected at checkout. Contact us before paying any unexpected import-charge request so we can investigate.
Is the €45 handling fee charged for every bottle?
No. It is one fixed €45 administrative fee per shipment, whether you order 1 bottle or 10 in that shipment. For example, with 3 bottles it works out at €15 per bottle; with 6 bottles, €7.50 per bottle. Shipping and the percentage-based import charge are separate.
How many bottles do you recommend ordering?
We recommend 3 or more bottles to spread the fixed handling fee and make the order better value per bottle for that cost. This is a recommendation, not a minimum order requirement. Adding bottles can move the packed order into a higher shipping weight band, so review the full checkout quote. Any destination or quantity restrictions still apply.
How long does shipping to the USA take?
Estimated shipping time is 7–20 days. Customs clearance and the destination state can affect how long your shipment takes. If you need delivery by a particular date, contact us before ordering; delivery dates are not guaranteed.
What if checkout does not show a shipping option?
Check that your country, state, ZIP code and address are complete and correct. If no option is available, contact us with your destination and the products you want to order so we can check the service.
